It is our policy to try to re-home dogs from their original homes, since this is less traumatic and stressful for the dog. However, due to various circumstances it is sometimes necessary for us to collect a dog and board it until a new home can be found. We then rely on a network of Foster Carers around the country to help us out – rather than put a dog in rescue kennels which is our very last resort.

Obviously this costs money – we give our time freely but travelling expenses, food, vet checks and neutering (if necessary) all need to be paid for. In our first year we helped several dogs and this cost almost £250.

While we would never refuse to help a dog or owner in need, these costs have to be covered. There are a few sponsors who donate regularly by direct debit to our rescue fund and we are very grateful for their kind support. We also hold raffles and fund raising events to boost our rescue fund.  However, we can always use extra funding to help these unfortunate dogs and every little helps. Donations of even £1 are welcome and by receiving your donations we are in a position to act immediately we get a call for help.

Cheques can be sent to our Treasurer or Rescue Co-ordinator – made payable to The Inuit Dog Association,

or through TIDA`s paypal account.

If you need the help of our re-homing service or are interested in re-homing a Northern Inuit then please contact our      Rescue Co-ordinator, Carol Sandrey.

We have Rescue Kennels on standby but this is a very last resort for these sensitive pets and if you feel you are able to help by temporarily fostering one of these dogs, or are able to do a home- check on prospective new owners, please contact Sue.
