Hello everyone – many of you know me from the various dog forums, shows and events.   In 2006 it became apparent that Northern Inuit dog owners and breeders needed a more open organisation, where the members had a real say in the running of the organisation and were kept fully informed of everything it did.  We needed an organisation that undertook to improve the health and welfare of the breed and to actively encourage its members to promote the breed, in order to ensure its credibility and future.  I therefore got together with a few like-minded owners and breeders and the Inuit Dog Association was formed.

I have been working with our Registrations Officer, Carol, preparing our application to have the breed recognised by the UK Kennel Club. Owing to events beyond our control this application has been set back several years, but we are persevering with it since this is our ultimate goal.   .   As well as organising shows, fun days, training workshops, seminars and demonstrations,  I also write a few articles for dog magazines promoting the NI breed.

I have five children, most of whom have now grown up and left home – which gives me more time to spend with my dogs!   Both my girls are into the dogs and were top Junior Handlers.   Alison is pleased to give help and advice at Ringcraft workshops and also Stewards at some of our shows.   Aimee prefers to spend her time doing wonderful sketches of NI and wolves.

I bred and showed shelties for many years before becoming involved with Northern Inuit dogs, which I have owned and bred for over 7 years now and can honestly say they have taken over my life!  As well as a growing number of Northern Inuit dogs I have a gorgeous rescue German Shepherd that I do agility with.   I spend a lot of time training my dogs and enjoy obedience, heelwork to music, K9 multisport and agility for fun. I helped run the Milton Keynes New City Ringcraft club for a few years but had to give this up through lack of time.

I also enjoy running three forums with my friends Mick and Trev – many of you are already members.   You can get a lot of useful help and advice on these forums, anything from canine diet, health, behaviour and training to reviews on the latest films and what the weather is doing around the country!   I am always available to offer help and advice and if anyone has a question or problem then please ask – if I don’t know the answer I am bound to know someone that does.

Best Wishes

Sandra
